ELCO | Decentralised Automation

Increasing complexity in the business world also requires increasingly complex systems and procedures. Automation concepts are playing a more and more important role in this context, whether in agriculture, the food & beverage industry or for machine builders. 

The decision for a decentralized automation concept depends on various factors, such as the need for precise and time-optimized control. Therefore, decentralization has certain advantages and disadvantages and can be applied specifically to certain fields of work.

The decentralized concept means "distributed intelligence" in detail, because many distributed controllers take over a large part of the task processing. Such concepts generally allow higher speeds and permit modular machine concepts. For this reason, decentralized automation concepts are often better suited for machine automation with many drive functions.

In this context, one can speak of a degree of real time hardness, because it can usually be said that an increase in this degree moves the control away from a centralized structure and towards a decentralized structure.

The decentralized control system outsources entire procedures, while the central structure only refers to smaller " divisions of work". A decentralized concept thus relieves the central control system by outsourcing to intelligent components. This requires a higher and better communication link between these components and the overlaying system.

The wireless enable switch from DOLD is the ideal companion for your safety in such situations. It switches off any dangerous movements in just a fraction of a second. The SAFEMASTER W consists of a lightweight, ultra-compact hand-held transmitter and a radio safety switch with safety-oriented outputs. The signal transmission via radio and/or infra-red ensures that only systems in the field of vision of the hand-held transmitter can be activated.
